#1 of 2015

Dear Poptastic Readers,

Our #1 song of 2015 is "Cara Mia" by Annie. Click on the song title to read what Poptastic Confessions had to say about it earlier this year.

"Cara Mia" was the first single from Annie's Endless Vacation EPI still love this quote from The Line of Best Fit to describe the song ...

"Cara Mia" - roughly 'my beloved' in Italian - is a storming house-infused
dance belter, with dreamy vocal hooks and smooth tropical beats."

With that brilliant description, just have a listen ...

While everyone was going crazy for Adele's "Hello", we found this to be a happier alternative. There is something so hypnotizing about this song.

Even my husband Arturo loves the song and had to say this about it "I find it so uplifting, and it automatically makes you feel happy when you hear it."

This is only the second time Annie appears on our countdown. Her song "Back Together" came in at #16 in our 2013 countdown

"Cara Mia" and Endless Vacation are available on digital outlets everywhere. Don't delay! Buy your copy today! You will love it! We do!

Cheers then,
—Davearama

#2 of 2015

Dear Poptastic Readers,

#2 in our favourite songs of 2015 is "Would You Believe" by Ace Of Base. Click on the song title to read what Poptastic Confessions had to say about it earlier this year.

Now as you may or may not know, Ace Of Base have broken up. Blonde singer Linn quit the music business, and brunette singer Jenny had falling out with brother Jonas and fourth member Ulf. In 2010, Jenny went solo and Jonas and Ulf hired new singers. But those new singers are gone. Jonas and Ulf released an Ace Of Base album of mostly unreleased songs this year called Hidden Gems.

"Would You Believe" was the first and only single from Hidden Gems. Even though the song was recorded many years ago, it was amazing to hear Linn and Jenny singing again with Ace Of Base. There was an official lyric video. However, we prefer the fan-made video with Ace Of Base in it here ...

"Would You Believe" is a song that just makes me so very happy. We love everything about it. Wish it were longer. We spent most of 2015 thinking it would be our #1 song of the year. Still, for a band who is no longer, it captures the magic that once was. And maybe, just maybe, the four Aces will get back together someday.

Hidden Gems and "Would You Believe" are available on digital outlets everywhere. Don't delay! Buy your copy today!

Cheers then,
—Davearama

#3 of 2015

Dear Poptastic Readers,

#3 in our favorite songs of 2015 is "Wildlife" by Parralox. The first time the song was mentioned in Poptastic Confessions was with Davearama's interview with Parralox's John von Ahlen in April. The song was also mentioned in the review of Parralox's album Aeronaut.

"Wildlife" was slated to be a single in November of this year. However, it was pushed back to January 2016. But since we had already put the song on our 2015 playlist, we decided to keep it, as it was part of our soundtrack to 2015.

There is a video for the song, but it is currently taken down from YouTube. When it is back on, we will update this page. But until then, you can hear the song here ...

Wasn't that awesome? Yes, it was!

Parralox also had another song in the Top 10 this year as "Aeronaut" came in at #9. And last year, their song "Crying On The Dancefloor" came in at #2. Perhaps next year, Parralox will get the #1 spot? Only time will tell.

Cheers then,
—Davearama

#4 of 2015

Dear Poptastic Readers,

#4 in our favourite songs of 2015 is "Little Things" by Ani Glass. Click on the song title to read what Poptastic Confessions first had to say about it earlier this year.

Who is Ani Glass? Well, she is singer/songwriter/artist extraordinaire Ani, former singer of The Pipettes and The Lovely Wars. And you might remember, Ani gave Poptastic Confessions the most incredible interview back in 2012.

Ani. Photo by Robert Attard.

Ani is all out on her own now and singing mostly in Welsh, her native language. However, "Little Things" has a chorus in English. And it doesn't matter if you don't speak Welsh (I suppose it helps though), because the music is wonderful.  I adore the song. I especially love the spoken middle eight. Have a listen ...

Ani is no stranger to the Poptastic Confessions countdowns. The last time she was in the Top 10 was in 2013 with her band The Lovely Wars. Their song "Young Love" came in at #7. Ani was a bit higher in the charts in 2010, when "Call Me" by The Pipettes came in at #2. Her other song called "Ffôl" came in at #15 this year.

We are big fans of Ani's pop career. You should be, too! Please like her Facebook page here. And buy her songs! "Little Things" — as well as "Ffôl" — are both available on Bandcamp.com, where you can pay with PayPal. Don't delay! Buy Ani's music today!

Happy Holidays!

#6 in our favourite songs of 2015 is "The Other Boys" by NERVO featuring Kylie Minogue, Jake Shears and Nile Rodgers. Click on the name of the song to see what Poptastic Confessions had to say about it earlier this year.

This is Kylie's fifth and final song on the countdown. It is also Nile Rodgers second time in the Top 10! A nice return for Jake from the Scissor Sisters and a wonderful debut for NERVO. Check out the video for "The Other Boys" here ...

#7 of 2015

Dear Poptastic Readers,

Merry Christmas Eve!

#7 in our favourite songs of 2015 is "Young Guns (Go For It)" by Alcazar. Click on the song title to see what Poptastic Confessions first had to say about it. In 2012, we wrote a history of Alcazar.

As you might remember, this is a remake of Wham's 1983 hit. And a fun remake it is. They made a video for the song, but unfortunately they blocked it from being seen in the USA on YouTube. Boo! So instead of showing you the video, here is this lovely live performance.

"Young Guns (Go For It)" is available on Swedish iTunes. However, you can get it on mp3va.com with a prepaid account. Don't delay! Buy your copy today!

We'll take a break from the countdown tomorrow, but we'll be back on the 26th with #6.

Ugly Single Cover, eh?

Since Poptastic Confessions first reviewed the song, we've really warmed up to it — especially the chorus. It is a fun song that is the first single from their current album called Paper Gods. The album has some fun songs on it, so hopefully more singles in 2016. But for now, check out the video ...

#9 of 2015

Dear Poptastic Readers,

#9 in our favorite songs of 2015 is "Aeronaut" by Parralox. Click on the song title to see what Poptastic Confessions first had to say about it.

It has been exciting year for Parralox. You might remember that they scored Poptastic Confessions #2 song of 2014 with "Crying On The Dancefloor." They have released two albums (Aeronaut and Holiday '15), done a few shows around the globe including London, New York and Berlin, plus earlier this spring, John did the most amazing interview with Poptastic Confessions.

"Aeronaut" was the first single from the album by the same name. It is a great song with a lovely chorus. The beautiful video features John walking around a desolate Paris at night. Have a look ...

That was awesome, right? Yes, it was!

Don't worry. This isn't the only Parralox song in the Top 10. To quote Star Wars, "there is another." Stay tuned ...

#10 of 2015

Dear Poptastic Readers,

Happy Monday and welcome to our Top 10 of 2015!

#10 in our favorite songs of 2015 is "Love Is Free" by Robyn & La Bagatelle Magique featuring Maluca. Click on the name of the song to see what Poptastic Confessions had to say about it.

I must confess, I wasn't sure what to think about this song for the longest time. Sure, I loved the beat and how it always made me wanna dance. But for some reason, I wasn't listening to it as much as some of the other songs on the list. And then the video dropped, and I suddenly, I was in love with it again. Just have a look ...

That was an amazing video, right? I LOVED IT!

Funnily enough, Robyn also came in at #10 last year with her song with Röyksopp called "Do It Again."
